ABC Widgets

A Lock Screen pet that eats your steps.

Blip lives on your Lock Screen and Home Screen and runs on your real day. Walk and it eats. Get outside and the sun wakes it up. Sleep and it rests.

Free, with an optional Pro subscription. For iPhone with iOS 17 or later.

It starts as a mystery egg

Every pet starts as an egg. Walk 1,000 steps and it hatches into one of 12 kinds: a gorilla, elephant, monkey, dog, cat, lion, tiger, bear, panda or penguin, or one of two rare ones, the Caticorn and the Dragon. What's inside is set when the egg is laid, so there's no re-rolling it. Once you've met one, you can hatch a new egg and work toward finding all 12.

It grows up with you

Your pet starts out as a baby, becomes a teen within a few days and is grown up after its first week. Your steps are its food, so the more you walk, the better it eats.

Winged shoes on a 10,000-step day

Hit 10,000 steps and your pet wears winged shoes for the rest of the day. In December it can wear a Santa hat, or you can choose always or never.

Private by design

Your pet's record of your steps, sleep and the weather is kept on your iPhone and never uploaded. Its reminders are notifications made on your phone, not sent from a server. If you share a card of your pet, your step numbers stay off unless you turn them on. There's no account and no leaderboard.

Put it on your Lock Screen

  1. Open ABC Widgets and allow Health, so your pet can see your steps and sleep.
  2. In the Lock Screen preview, add Blip from Ready-made to one side.
  3. Press and hold your Lock Screen, tap Customize, then tap the widget area under the clock and add that side from ABC Widgets.

Blip also comes as a Home Screen widget, and on iOS 27 it gets a whole room as a full-page widget.

Hatch your egg.
